Ad-Dukhan

Quran Text — Ad-Dukhan

44:1 Ha, Meem.

44:2 By the clear, enlightening Scripture.

44:3 We revealed it on a blessed night—We’ve been warning.

44:4 On that night, every wise matter is made distinct.

44:5 A command from Us—We’ve been sending messengers.

44:6 As a mercy from your Lord—He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

44:7 The Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that’s between them—if you are certain.

44:8 There is no god but He. He gives life and causes death—your Lord and the Lord of your ancestors.

44:9 Still, they are playing in doubt.

44:10 Await the day when the sky will bring visible smoke.

44:11 It will envelop the people: this is a painful punishment.

44:12 “Our Lord, lift from us the punishment; we are believers.”

44:13 How can there be a reminder for them, since a clear Messenger has already come to them?

44:14 Yet they turned away from him and said, “He is tutored, a madman.”

44:15 We will withdraw the punishment a little. But you will surely return.

44:16 The Day We will strike with the greatest assault—We will take revenge.

44:17 Before them, We tested the people of Pharaoh, when a noble messenger came to them.

44:18 “Hand over to me Allah’s servants. I am definitely a reliable messenger to you.

44:19 And don’t exalt yourselves against Allah; I’ve come to you with clear authority.

44:20 I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me.

44:21 If you don’t believe me, then keep your distance from me.”

44:22 Then, he implored his Lord, “These are criminal people.”

44:23 “Depart with My servants by night—you will be pursued.

44:24 And leave the sea in stillness; they are soldiers to be drowned.”

44:25 How many gardens and springs did they leave behind?

44:26 And fields and noble sites.

44:27 And comfort wherein they were amused.

44:28 Thus, and We made it an inheritance for another people.

44:29 Neither heaven nor earth wept for them, nor were they reprieved.

44:30 We rescued the Children of Israel from the degrading torment.

44:31 From Pharaoh. He was a tyrant, an oppressor.

44:32 And We knowingly chose them over the worlds.

44:33 We gave them signs in which there were transparent trials.

44:34 Yet these people say:

44:35 “There is only our first death, and we won’t be resurrected.

44:36 Then bring back our ancestors, if you are truthful.”

44:37 Are they better than the people of Tubba and those before them? We destroyed them because they were criminals.

44:38 We didn’t create the heavens, the earth, and everything in between in play.

44:39 We created them only in truth, but most of them don’t know.

44:40 The Day of Decision is their appointed time, all of them.

44:41 The Day when no relation will avail a relation at all, nor will they be helped.

44:42 Except those on whom Allah has mercy. He is the Mighty, the Merciful.

44:43 The Tree of Bitterness.

44:44 Food of the sinners.

44:45 Like molten brass, it boils in the bellies.

44:46 Like the boiling of seething water.

44:47 “Grab him and drag him into the middle of the Hellfire.

44:48 Then, pour over his head from the suffering of the Inferno.

44:49 Taste! For you are the mighty, the noble one!

44:50 This is what you used to question.”

44:51 As for the righteous, they will be in a safe place.

44:52 Amid gardens and springs.

44:53 Clothed in fine silk and heavy brocade, facing each other.

44:54 Thus. And We will pair them with pure companions with beautiful eyes.

44:55 They will call for fruit therein, in peace and tranquility.

44:56 Therein, they will taste no death, beyond the first death. And He will shield them from the torment of Hellfire.

44:57 As a bounty from your Lord. That is the grand success.

44:58 We’ve made it easy in your language, so they may reflect.

44:59 So, wait. They too are waiting.
