Quran Text — Al-Alaq

96:1 Read, in the name of your Lord who created.

96:2 Created man from a clinging clot.

96:3 Read, and your Lord is the Most Generous.

96:4 He who taught by the pen.

96:5 Taught man what he knew not.

96:6 Indeed, man transgresses.

96:7 When he sees himself as self-sufficient.

96:8 Yet, to your Lord is the return.

96:9 Did you see the one who forbids?

96:10 A servant when he prays?

96:11 Did you see if he is upon guidance?

96:12 Or advocates righteousness?

96:13 Didn’t you see how he denies and turns away?

96:14 Doesn’t he know that Allah sees?

96:15 No indeed! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock.

96:16 A lying, sinful forelock.

96:17 Let him call his helpers.

96:18 We will call the Infernal Guards.

96:19 No! Don’t obey him, but instead, prostrate and draw close.
