Quran Text — Al-Haqqah

69:1 The Inevitable Reality.

69:2 What is the Inevitable Reality?

69:3 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Reality is?

69:4 Thamud and Aad denied the Striking Calamity.

69:5 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the Overwhelming.

69:6 As for Aad, they were destroyed by a relentless, roaring wind.

69:7 He imposed it upon them for seven nights and eight consecutive days. You would see the people lying overthrown, as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.

69:8 Can you see any remnants of them?

69:9 Then came Pharaoh, those before him, and the Overturned Cities, all steeped in sin.

69:10 They all disobeyed their Lord’s messenger, and consequently, He seized them with a devastating seizure.

69:11 When the waters surged, We carried you in the Cruiser.

69:12 That We might make it a lesson for you, and for heedful ears to retain.

69:13 Then, when the Trumpet is blown, with a single blast.

69:14 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and crushed with a single strike.

69:15 Then on that Day, the Great Event will happen.

69:16 And the sky will split apart; on that Day, it will be unstable.

69:17 And the angels will be on its sides, and that Day eight will bear the Throne of your Lord above them.

69:18 On that Day, you will be exposed, not a single secret of yours will be hidden.

69:19 As for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, “Here, take my record and read it.

69:20 I knew that I would meet my account.”

69:21 So, he will be in a life of contentment.

69:22 In a high Garden.

69:23 Its fruit hanging within reach.

69:24 “Eat and drink cheerfully for what you did in the days gone by.”

69:25 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, “I wish I had not been given my record.

69:26 And was not aware of my account.

69:27 I wish it had been the decisive one!

69:28 My wealth didn’t avail me.

69:29 My authority has vanished.”

69:30 “Seize him, then shackle him.

69:31 Then into Hellfire drive him.

69:32 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long.

69:33 He used not to believe in Allah the Magnificent.

69:34 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor.

69:35 So he has no friend here today.

69:36 And no food except from the wash of wounds.

69:37 None but wrongdoers eat of it.”

69:38 So I swear by what you see.

69:39 And by what you don’t see.

69:40 It is the speech of a respectable Messenger.

69:41 And it is not the speech of a poet—little do you believe.

69:42 Nor the word of a soothsayer—little do you remember.

69:43 A revelation from the Lord of the universes.

69:44 Had he attributed some statements to Us.

69:45 We would’ve seized him by the right hand.

69:46 Followed by cutting off his Lifeline.

69:47 And none of you could’ve shielded him from Us.

69:48 It’s a reminder for the righteous.

69:49 We know that some of you will deny it.

69:50 It’s a source of regret for the unbelievers.

69:51 Yet, it’s the absolute truth.

69:52 So, glorify the name of your Lord, the Most Magnificent.
